There really was a lot going on in Bristol on Friday the 14th May and we managed to cram in three of those things!
First up a visit to the Museum for the opening of the Art From The New World Show, curated by the Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles.
The show featured work from 49 of Americas emerging and established contemporary artists, including Sas & Colin Christian, Carlos Ramos, Mark Ryden, Sylvia Ji and Buff Monster. The show is on until the 22nd August so plenty of chance to take a gander.
There were some stunning pieces on show, here are a few of our faves.
Of course the buzz on the night was all about the performance to be staged by burlesque star Dita Von Teese, however I’m sorry but no pics of that on this blog and not because we are moral in our standings and believe this to be degrading to women, oh no, we really wanted to catch 3Dom’s solo show at the Weapon Of Choice so it was very much graff over knockers for us!!!
We hot footed it down Queens Road and got to WOC with minutes to spare but the gallery was still packed. 3Dom had done himself and the gallery proud with some amazing sketches and painted pieces, far removed from what you see him throwing up on the walls of Bristol.
We had just enough time to have a quick browse and take some pics before we were kicked out and on on our way down town to Start The Bus where Inkie, Sepr and Dylan Shipley were waging ‘Secret Wars’ against Glasgow.
After some previous controversial defeats we are glad to announce that Friday nights winners were Bristol with the supporting cheers hitting 123 on the ol’ decibel counter. Yeah go Bristol.
Next stop ….. home and bed!!!
