An art exhibition will take place at the Resistance Gallery in Bethnal Green, London, on 2 August to raise money for the NAS. The evening will be held by artist and graphic designer, Matthew Doyle of the Raw Meat brand. The “Loading” exhibition is an evening of art dedicated to, and inspired by, video games from the 1970s to present day. Doyle’s own work will be featured along with over 50 other artists; two of whom will be painting live.
Doyle said: “After unleashing my inner nerd and love for video games, and combining it with my appreciation of the art world, it was inevitable that Loading would be the next Raw Meat exhibition.
“I decided to hold the event in aid of The National Autistic Society as I’ve seen firsthand the impact autism has on people’s lives. It’s a great to be able to mix business with pleasure and feel like you’re making a difference.”
In 2010, Doyle was involved in a serious motorbike accident, which left him bed-bound for eight months. In the bed opposite him was an inspirational boy with autism; so much so that as soon as Doyle was back on his feet, he started volunteering at a school for children with autism.
Lyken is a Visual Artist & Musician based in Glasgow, Scotland. He was among the first to write Graffiti in Scotland in the 80s & transition to Gallery work. His paintings toy with scale and time, worlds within worlds, chemical universes at a microscopic level. His music reflects this same detail, decayed sounds and transmissions shimmer in space, a melodic sea of scientific musical patterns that chime with that certain universal emotion.
Growing up, his family moved between Scotland & South Africa, never remaining in one place for longer than a year or two. This resulted in quick adaption to new situations, people and opportunities. He drew endlessly as a child and recorded mock radio shows on his Grandad’s reel-to-reel. At sixteen he asked for a drum machine rather than driving lessons for his birthday.
A restless curiosity means he continues to record, travel & exhibit, applying his abstract style to different surfaces & mediums. His Debut album “Bit Rot” is out now on Gamma Proforma.
He still can’t drive.
Which means he’ll be getting the train down to Bristol next week in preperation for his new solo show opening at Art-el of Friday 4th May.
Here’s a little taster of what is to come.

The International Meeting of Styles (MOS) brings aerosol artists and the public together to experience live aerosol art and the creative process. It provides a focal point for urban street culture and a platform for aerosol art to reach the larger community. It is an event inspired by creativity and cultural exchange.
The original MOS originates from Germany and has a worldwide reputation and respect because of its message and authentic style. Since it’s inception it now features in 17 cities around the world.
In October 2011 End of the Line presents the British edition of Meeting of Styles with its 4th event in London. This annual event has grown from 15 artists and one main wall in its first year to a full scale outdoor block party and street exhibition of 60 artists in 2010.
This years meeting, which has a great line up, will be held on October 8th at The Studios, Hornsey Street, Islington, N7 8GR.
Exploring duality in Art & Music, Gamma Proforma’s GP2011 events feature three distinct UK artists with a common thread, they operate on Dual Channels. Three events at XOYO London during August/September 2011. Each event launches a set of Giclee prints and a soundtrack album by the featured artist. The artists will be in attendance and will perform works at the events. The first 30 attendees at each event will receive a limited edition artist’s pack that includes a signed Giclee print and hand made soundtrack. Support from DJ’s Noel Watson & Nate Thompson plus guests.
Part 2. The Art & Sounds of Lyken
Lyken’s layered & gestural work captures turbulent events & cycles along the timeline of a living cosmos. These are worlds within worlds, chemical universes revealed at a microscopic level. His music reflects this same detail, decayed sounds and transmissions shimmer in space, a melodic sea of scientific musical patterns that chime with that certain universal emotion.
In Gods We Trust is an exciting new exhibition showcasing 12 debut pieces from iconic artist and graffiti pioneer – Nick Walker. This is Nicks first major solo show in 2 years, it opened last Tuesday evening at the Art Sensus Gallery in London and runs until the 27th November so go check it out if you are out and about in London.
One of the new pieces (and also the show print) was his controversial piece ‘Le Corancan’ that the Parisian streets were hit up with earlier this year.
“In Gods We Trust confronts cultural practices and dogmas through a paradoxical exploration of political and religious landscapes. Debuting 12 new works, this shrewd new showcase is set to be Nick Walker’s most powerful collection to date”.
