The making of Mark Lyken Solo Exhibition ‘Pattern Interrupt’ 4th May 2012

June 5, 2012

It’s out with the old and in with the old at Art-el Gallery.

Erms solo show ‘Everything Begins With An E’ opened with a bang on Friday evening, after a busy and tiring week putting it up – more to come about that soon.

Pattern Interrupt, Mark Lyken’s solo show is down and has left the gallery, and the event seems like such a long time ago now. That said the show will live on in our hearts and of course on the internet! Lets take a little look back and how it all began.

Thanks to Mark for having the faith and for agreeing to put on Art-el first solo show, all who help out putting the show up and all those who came to view and of course thanks to Joe Clarke for an amazing momento of the achievement in the form of this short film.

Work from the show is now available on line at Art-el Gallery.

Mark Lyken – Pattern Interrupt

May 6, 2012

We at Art-el have a really good week.

The coming together and opening night of the Pattern Interrupt show has been an absolute blast and has resulted in a what we think is an amazing show, so our thanks and congratulations to Mark Lyken for setting the standards so high with what is Art-el’s first solo show. Feed back has been great and we are over the moon, thanks to everybody who came to see the show this weekend especially the Glasgow crew and Recoat Gallery’s Ali and Amy, who it’s been really good to spend some time with.

All have departed Bristol now and we do genuinely feel a little heavy hearted.

The show is of course on until the 25th May (Thursday & Friday 11.30am to 5.30pm & Saturday 12.00pm to 4.30pm), so if you didn’t make it down this weekend then please do stop by as it really is worth taking in.

The work from the show is now also available to buy on-line here – http://www.art-el.co.uk/collections/mark-lyken

Here of a few shots of the show at it’s various stages.

There will be plenty more photos to come as Joe Clarke, a photographer who has a studio at The College Project has documentated the whole process with still photography and film, he’s off editing those as we speak and we can’t wait to see and share them, thanks again Joe.  http://www.joe-clarke.com
