‘LOADING’ exhibition at the Resistance Gallery 02/08/12

July 24, 2012

An art exhibition will take place at the Resistance Gallery in Bethnal Green, London, on 2 August to raise money for the NAS. The evening will be held by artist and graphic designer, Matthew Doyle of the Raw Meat brand. The “Loading” exhibition is an evening of art dedicated to, and inspired by, video games from the 1970s to present day. Doyle’s own work will be featured along with over 50 other artists; two of whom will be painting live.

Doyle said: “After unleashing my inner nerd and love for video games, and combining it with my appreciation of the art world, it was inevitable that Loading would be the next Raw Meat exhibition.

“I decided to hold the event in aid of The National Autistic Society as I’ve seen firsthand the impact autism has on people’s lives. It’s a great to be able to mix business with pleasure and feel like you’re making a difference.”

In 2010, Doyle was involved in a serious motorbike accident, which left him bed-bound for eight months. In the bed opposite him was an inspirational boy with autism; so much so that as soon as Doyle was back on his feet, he started volunteering at a school for children with autism.

Venue: Resistance Gallery, 265 Poyser Street, Bethnal Green, London, E2 9RF
Date: Thursday 2nd August
Time: 8.00pm

3100 Miles

July 11, 2012

This is Kevin Sharp, after reading this blog you’ll either think he’s amazing or just crazy!

Kevin is currently travelling across America.  So what’s the big deal?  Well he’s RUNNING it and completely unsupported ……. 3100 miles in 95 days, that’s an average of 33.5 miles per day.

Why?  Well firstly Kevin quite simply likes to run and secondly because he will also be raising money for 2 very deserving charities that have personally affected him, The National Autistic Society and The Royal British Legion.

Here’s what Kevin has to say about his epic journey.

My name is Kevin Sharp and I am a 30 year old Aerospace Engineer from Nuneaton in Warwickshire.  I have been passionate about running from a very early age and I love to run! It is what I do  best!  When I run, I am at my happiest! It’s like an addiction! I have run marathons in the past and have recently been dabbling with longer and longer distances. It has always been my ambition to achieve something epic and go a bit beyond the norm so I have decided to focus my running efforts into something purposeful.

It is my intention to run solo, coast to coast across the United States of America from Washington State to Virginia. About 3100 miles according to Google maps. I will be unsupported and funding the whole trip out of my own pocket. According to my research, more people have summited Everest than have run across America solo. Not too hard then…

I will also be running in aid of two charities: The National Autistic Society andThe Royal British Legion. My younger brother suffers with Autism. It will be great to support the NAS for the help and guidance they have given my family and also to raise awareness of Autism and Aspergers Syndrome. The Royal British Legion is equally important to me as some of my closest friends are currently serving in the Army. I am  aware of the sacrifices service men and women make on a daily basis and I am keen to support the Royal British Legion in their efforts to assist veterans and serving personnel.

Kevin needs your help, and there is more than one way to do this.

Visit Kevins own blog page – 3100 Miles – and follow his journey, it would also be really nice if you could post some words of encouragement.  He’s out there on his own, but it needs only to be in body!

Share Kevins story in which ever way you can, his story deserves to be told.

If you can (and we know times are tough for many of you) please visit Virgin Money Giving and make a donation … really every penny counts … to Kevin and to the charities that he is supporting.

THANK YOU
